"What I like about Digging Reading is I think it's really fun. It has taught me everything there is to know about reading, from inferences to predictions. Also I like the books we are reading like Frindle and Bird Boy."

—Jesse, Grade 4 student

"[The strategies in] Digging Reading help me when I'm reading. I might use prior knowledge to pick a book or predicting to look ahead, or use having a purpose to know what I'm looking for."

—Michael, Grade 4 student

"Summarizing is a skill we spend lots of time on, and I really like the material for it in this program!"

—Lisa Wick, Grade 4 teacher, New Brighton, MN

"I was very excited when a student said, 'Hey, Ms. E, do you want to know how I used my prior knowledge in this book?' He was reading an independent book, not during Digging Reading time!"

—Shana Eberhard, Grade 5 teacher, St. Paul, MN

"During the predicting and questioning lessons the students are asked to provide evidence to support their thinking. Surprisingly, I'm getting more in depth responses than I would have guessed. The connections these kids are making are subtle and, frankly, make me more impressed with the author."

—David Carberry, Grade 4/5 teacher, Bloomington MN
